| Reverse description | Facing bust of St. John the Baptist depicted from the shoulders upward, rendered in a stylised hammered manner with flowing hair and surrounded by a plain inner circle. The saint's image fills the central field. A circular Latin legend runs between the inner and outer beaded borders, invoking the intercession of the patron saint and identifying the issue as a new coinage. |

| Additional information |
Antoine de Paule served as Grand Master from 1623 to 1636, and his coinage reflects the Order's continued grip on Mediterranean silver commerce despite mounting Ottoman pressure on what remained of their Maltese stronghold. The 4 Tari was the Order's principal workhorse denomination in silver, circulating widely across Sicilian and North African trade networks rather than staying confined to the island.
KM#48 is known with minor die variations across the eleven-year production run.
