| Reverse description | Central field features a large, facing bearded head in high relief, identified as the head of Saint John the Baptist, rendered with flowing hair and a long beard in a bold, expressive style characteristic of Maltese hammered coinage of the sixteenth century. The head is set within a slightly recessed circular field. The surrounding flat border carries a circular Latin legend reading from a six-pointed star stop, with the text distributed around the full circumference. The outer edge of the coin is framed by a rope or cable border consistent with that of the obverse. |
