| Obverse description | The elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud II occupies the central field, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with sweeping loops and ascending strokes. Below the tughra, the mint name Tripoli West (Tarabulus Gharb) and the AH regnal year 1223 are inscribed in Arabic script. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The overall composition follows the standard Ottoman provincial mint format, with the royal cipher dominating the flan. |
