Obverse description Central field features the elaborate tughra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Mehmed VI, rendered in fine relief with characteristic calligraphic complexity and a stippled decorative base. The tughra is enclosed within a dotted inner circle, outside of which a continuous Arabic legend occupies the broad outer band. Flanking the lower portion of the design are sprigs of olive and wheat, symbolic of prosperity, crossed at the base. The entire design is bordered by a toothed or engine-turned milled rim.
