The Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale issues a single note design across six member states — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — distinguished only by a letter prefix in the serial number identifying the issuing country. The 5000 Franc denomination was the highest in regular circulation for much of this period, making it the workhorse of large commercial transactions across the CFA franc zone.
The signature pairing of Mamalepot and Ognagna held unusually long through the series — five consecutive dated issues without change, before Aleka-Rybert replaced Ognagna for the 2000 printing.
