Issued to commemorate Oman's 20th National Day, marking two decades since Sultan Qaboos bin Said deposed his father Said bin Taimur in a bloodless palace coup on July 23, 1970. Qaboos subsequently transformed a near-medieval isolationist state — one with fewer than ten kilometers of paved road at accession — into a functioning modern economy within a single generation.
