| Obverse description | A classical allegorical vignette of seated Mercury occupies the left portion of the note, rendered in intaglio against a multicolor guilloche underprint. The issuer's name is inscribed across the top, while the face value appears in both numerals and words to the right. The overall design is executed in rich multicolor tones typical of American Bank Note Company production of the period. |
