Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring the escutcheon with a key between two coastal promontories, a rising sun, and a royal palm tree, surmounted by the Phrygian cap on a pole and flanked by sprigs of oak and laurel. The arms are encircled by a raised denticled border running close to the rim. The curved inscription REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs above along the upper periphery, while CINCO CENTAVOS curves below along the lower periphery, both rendered in Latin characters.
