Obverse description Central device features a winged caduceus entwined by two serpents, flanked by two upright palm trees. The circular legend CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE D'ALGER runs along the upper periphery, with the year of issue positioned below. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The composition reflects the commercial and colonial character typical of French Algerian emergency coinage of the First World War era.

Reverse description The large denomination numeral '5' accompanied by the abbreviation 'c.' occupies the central field in bold, heavily engraved style with horizontal line shading. Flanking the numeral are two botanical sprays: an oak branch to the left bearing lobed leaves and acorns, and an olive branch to the right with elongated leaves and berries, their stems crossed at the base. A beaded border encircles the entire design. A small engraver's mark appears at lower left near the rim.
