| Obverse description | Hand-engraved hobo nickel fantasy portrait replacing the original Native American effigy of the Buffalo Nickel. The facing bust depicts a fantastical Na'vi-inspired alien or humanoid figure with large, expressive almond-shaped eyes, pronounced facial markings, pointed ears, and scaled or textured skin flanking the face. Feather motifs appear to the left of the portrait, and a braided or rope-like border frames the design. The legend LIBERTY arcs along the upper rim, and the date 1937 appears in the lower field below the portrait. |
