| Reverse description | The denomination numeral '5' in large, bold characters occupies the centre of the field, with the word CENTS immediately below, all contained within a raised beaded inner circle. The legend BRITISH HONDURAS arcs around the upper periphery, while the date appears at the base between two decorative foliate or star ornaments. A beaded border follows the coin's outer edge, framing the entire design. |

The removal of "Emperor of India" from George VI's royal titles followed Indian independence in 1947 and Pakistani independence the same year — both dominions departed the empire, stripping the Crown of the imperial designation by royal proclamation on 22 June 1948. Coins struck for British colonial territories from 1949 onward had to reflect this, requiring new dies across dozens of issuing authorities simultaneously. British Honduras was among the smaller beneficiaries of that retooling.
KM#25 represents a four-year window before Elizabeth II's accession ended the series entirely.
