Comments

The Courier Club on Rhodes issued small-denomination scrip for use within its own premises — a practice common to military-affiliated clubs and recreational facilities operating in post-occupation Greece, where small change was chronically scarce. These notes circulated internally, not through any banking channel, and were redeemable only at the issuing establishment.

Rhodes had passed from Italian to British to Greek administration in the space of a decade by the time this scrip appeared, and the lingering shortage of low-value coinage across the Dodecanese made such tokens genuinely practical rather than merely ceremonial.
