RAF Station Seletar, on the northeastern tip of Singapore island, operated its own NAAFI canteen currency during the postwar decade — a practical solution to the perennial problem of small-denomination Straits and later Malayan coin shortages in a closed military environment. These grey paper chits circulated exclusively within the station perimeter, accepted at the NAAFI shop, wet canteen, and mess facilities.
The decade-long date range reflects the difficulty of pinning down exact issue years for RAF canteen currency of this type; individual notes were rarely dated, and recordkeeping was informal at best.
