| Obverse description | Central field features a highly detailed gilt relief of an Elasmotherium sibiricum, the extinct giant Siberian rhinoceros, depicted in three-quarter left-facing stance with its massive single horn prominent and shaggy coat finely rendered against a mirror-polished black background. Coniferous trees flank the animal in the mid-ground, evoking its Pleistocene habitat. The Cyrillic legend ЭЛАСМОТЕРИЙ curves along the upper border, while the Latin inscription Elasmotherium arcs along the lower border, both in raised lettering. Two raised dots flank the central design at mid-height, and the engraver's initials МВ appear in the lower right field. |
