| Obverse description | The nickel silver centre features a finely detailed depiction of two narwhals (Monodon monoceros) swimming in an Arctic marine setting: a larger individual arching across the upper field and a smaller one below, both rendered with naturalistic spotted mottling. A school of small fish occupies the lower left field, seabirds appear in flight at upper centre, and a rocky coastal outcrop is visible at right. The engraver's monogram МВ appears in an oval cartouche at centre right. The brass outer ring carries the Cyrillic legend НАРВАЛ at the top and the Latin binomial name Monodon monoceros along the lower arc, separated by raised dots. |
