Obverse description Central vignette of the National Assembly building (Binaya al-Majlis al-Watani) in Baghdad, rendered in intaglio in mauve-rose tones, with palm trees in the foreground. The issuer's name in Arabic (البنك المركزي العراقي) is set within a guilloche panel at the top centre, flanked by denomination numerals in ornate rosette cartouches at each corner. The lower portion carries a governor's facsimile signature, the Arabic text for 'banknote issued by law', and the building caption at lower right.

Reverse description Central vignette reproduces the upper register of the famous Hammurabi stele, showing King Hammurabi standing before the enthroned sun-god Shamash who extends the rod and ring of authority, set within a fine guilloche border. The English inscription 'Central Bank of Iraq' runs across the top, with 'Five Dinars' at the foot, while the denomination numeral '5' appears in guilloche cartouches at each corner. An Arabic inscription is placed at lower centre beneath the vignette.
