| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Hussein bin Talal facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed portraiture. The Hashemite royal arms — a crowned shield — appears at the top of the field above the portrait. An Arabic legend curves along the left and right periphery, identifying the monarch and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Below the bust, the denomination numeral '٥' (5) and the Arabic inscription 'خمسة دنانير' (Five Dinars) appear in the lower field, with the Hijri date '١٣٨٩' below. The coin is bordered by a raised beaded rim. |

| Reverse description | Central design depicts a detailed relief of the Treasury of Petra (Al-Khazneh), the renowned Nabataean rock-cut monument, shown frontally with its ornate Hellenistic façade of columns, pediments, and sculptural niches carved into the surrounding sandstone cliff face. A hatched or reticulated decorative pattern fills the field on either side of the central vignette. The inscription 'TREASURY OF PETRA' arcs below the monument. In the lower portion of the field, the denomination 'FIVE · 5 · DINARS' is displayed prominently, flanked by the date '1969'. The legend 'THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN' curves around the upper periphery, all within a beaded border. |
