Comments

The Bank of Nova Scotia was headquartered in Halifax when this note was issued but had relocated its head office to Toronto in 1900 — a move that did little to change the note's aesthetic conservatism. The American Bank Note Company held the contract for much of the bank's early twentieth-century production, and by 1918 the relationship was long-established.

Charles Archibald served as General Manager from 1910 to 1919, which tightly brackets the issue window for this signature combination. Richardson's tenure as Accountant overlapped precisely, making co-signed survivors useful for dating purposes within the series.
