| Obverse description | The supported royal arms vignette occupies the centre of the note, flanked by guilloche panels bearing the numeral "5" in oval cartouches on either side. The bank's full title arches across the top in bold letterpress, with the legend "FORMERLY THE COLONIAL BANK" beneath it, and the text "PROMISES TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND AT ITS OFFICE HERE" appears to either side of the central arms.
