Franklin's connection to Barbados is one of the lesser-known footnotes of his biography: in 1724, at age eighteen, he briefly considered settling in the Caribbean before returning to Philadelphia. Barbados has leaned into that association for this issue. Whether the historical thread is thin enough to raise an eyebrow is a fair question.
