Reverse description A high-relief allegorical scene inspired by John Trumbull's celebrated painting 'Declaration of Independence' occupies the central field, depicting five Founding Fathers in period costume gathered around a draped podium; the central standing figure presents the document to his seated colleagues. The arc legend DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE runs along the upper periphery, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST inscribed on a second arc within the field below it. The date JULY 4, 1776 appears in a recessed rectangular cartouche at the base of the design, set against a polished mirror field.
