| Obverse description | Within the brass centre, a coconut palm tree leaning to the left is depicted rising from a rocky shoreline with water and vegetation at its base, rendered in fine relief. The legend COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS arcs along the upper portion of the steel ring, while TERRITORY appears along the lower arc. Eight five-pointed stars are evenly spaced around the ring between the two legends. The Malay inscription BUKAN WANG TUNAI (meaning 'Not Legal Tender') appears in the lower portion of the brass centre, just above the junction with the ring. |
