Nauru issued commemoratives aggressively throughout the 2000s, contracting production to foreign mints and targeting the collector market almost exclusively — actual circulation was never the point. The Diamond Wedding issue marks the 60th anniversary of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's 1947 marriage at Westminster Abbey, one of the first major royal events broadcast on BBC radio to a mass audience.
KM#46 is one of several Nauru pieces from this period sharing the same 28.28g sterling specification used across dozens of Commonwealth commemorative programs, making individual die attribution difficult without reference to the issuer's contracted mint.
