Samoa has been a reliable vehicle for licensed pop-culture bullion since the early 2010s, with the Samoa Tala Act allowing considerable flexibility for foreign minting houses — primarily Bavarian State Mint and various private licensees — to produce legal-tender issues well outside what a sovereign mint would sanction. The DC licensing agreement behind this piece runs through a broader series covering multiple characters, each struck in both plain and colorized variants assigned separate KM numbers.
Posthumous attribution to Elizabeth II was applied across dozens of Pacific-area issues dated 2023 that were already in production or planning at the time of her death in September 2022.
