| Reverse description | Central device consists of a Portuguese armillary sphere overlaid with the Portuguese republican shield, the entire composition set within a stylized Maltese cross whose four elongated pointed arms extend to the inner border. The circular legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA arcs along the upper and lateral periphery, while the mint year · 1935 · is prominently displayed along the lower periphery, flanked by raised dot stops. The overall design reflects the Estado Novo aesthetic of imperial Portuguese colonial coinage. |

| Additional information |
Portugal's colonial coinage for Mozambique was administered through the Agência Geral das Colónias, and the 1935 issue arrived during Salazar's early consolidation of the Estado Novo — a regime that used standardized colonial silver as an instrument of economic integration across Portuguese Africa. The .650 fineness was a deliberate step down from earlier colonial silver standards, reflecting post-Depression pressures on Lisbon's reserves.
KM#62 is the sole date for this type. No subsequent strikes continued the design, making 1935 the entire run.
