| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the Central Bank of Malta is displayed prominently at the centre of the obverse field. The country name MALTA and the date 2025 are inscribed in a legend arcing above the arms. Below the arms, the fineness designation Ag 999, the Mint of Poland mintmark (mw), and the denomination 5 EURO are inscribed, accompanied by the motto FIDUCIA FORTIS with its date 1968. The design is executed in a restrained, heraldic style against a smooth proof field. |

This piece belongs to Malta's ongoing series drawing from Greco-Roman mythology, a program the Central Bank has used to position the island's numismatic output toward the European collector market. The Midas's Judgement episode — in which King Midas awarded Pan the victory over Apollo in a musical contest and received donkey's ears as divine punishment — appears far less frequently in mint programs than the more bankable Midas-and-gold-touch narrative, making the subject choice mildly unusual.
The porcelain insert is produced in collaboration with Ta' Qali, Malta's established craft center for ceramics.
