The Bahrain Monetary Agency issued a matched set of silver proof versions of the circulating coinage in 2010, of which this 5 fils is the smallest denomination. The Agency itself was dissolved the following year, replaced by the Central Bank of Bahrain in 2006 — making these proofs among the final issues to carry the BMA name on a coin struck to collector standard.
