| Obverse description | The French-language face is dominated by the bold intaglio-engraved denomination "5 FRANCS" at centre, flanked by two standing allegorical female figures in classical robes, with a group of putti seated at the base on either side. The issuer name "BANQUE NATIONALE DE BELGIQUE" arches across the upper portion in large letterpress text, below which the date and the payable clause "PAYABLES A VUE" appear.
