| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of Marianne, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, depicted with flowing hair partially covered by a Phrygian cap, rendered in a clean, modern style by engraver Raymond Joly. The bust is unadorned and lightly draped at the shoulder, with the hair shown swept back dynamically. The engraver's signature R.JOLY appears incuse in the right field. The circular legend RÉPVBLIQVE FRANÇAISE arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1970 positioned in the exergue flanked by two dots. |
