Ukraine's domestic banknote printing facility, established in 1994 as part of the broader infrastructure built to support the hryvnia's introduction, produced this note entirely in-house — a point of institutional pride for a central bank that had previously depended on foreign contractors for its currency production. The 5 hryvnia denomination has remained one of the more actively circulated values in everyday Ukrainian transactions, meaning worn examples are the norm rather than the exception.

Pick #118 covers a long production window spanning over a decade, during which signature combinations changed as successive NBU governors rotated through office.
