Never issued, never circulated. This is a design proposal — one of several submitted during discussions about a hypothetical common currency for the Mercosur trade bloc, an idea that gained intermittent political traction in the 2000s but never advanced to any formal monetary agreement. The name "Libre" was itself a proposal, chosen for its obvious symbolism across Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking member states.
Nascimento's entry was a Brazilian submission, not an official Banco Central do Brasil commission. No printing contract followed.
