Additional information

Mustafa III came to the throne in 1757 following the death of Osman III, inheriting an empire under sustained financial pressure. The small copper para denominations of his reign were minted in large quantities to service everyday transactions, but the copper coinage was chronically debased throughout the mid-18th century Ottoman period, leading to persistent public distrust and widespread hoarding of silver.

KM#65 is known with considerable variation in flan quality and strike centering — a direct consequence of inconsistent copper stock at the Constantinople mint rather than die failure.
