Denia's wartime emergency issues of 1936–37 — produced by the local anarcho-syndicalist committee during the early months of the Spanish Civil War — were among the more obscure of the Republican zone's municipal currencies. This 2003 reproduction was commissioned as a collector piece and printed by the FNMT in Madrid, Spain's official state security printer, lending it a technical quality the originals never had. The watermark is a curiosity: genuine security paper on a document that was never legal tender and was never intended to be.
