| Reverse description | The aluminium bronze centre presents a left-facing bust of Fray Servando Teresa de Mier, the Mexican independence-era theologian and patriot, rendered in moderate relief. To the lower left of the bust appears the mint mark Mo above the date 2009, while the denomination $5 is inscribed to the upper right of the effigy. The sitter's name SERVANDO TERESA DE MIER is engraved in an arc along the lower portion of the central disc. The stainless steel outer ring carries the commemorative legend BICENTENARIO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA along the upper arc and MÉXICO 2010 along the lower arc, flanked by two small circular ornaments. |
