The Institut d'Emission des Etats du Cambodge, du Laos et du Vietnam was established in 1952 as a transitional monetary authority — a French-managed compromise designed to give the Associated States nominal financial independence while keeping the Indochinese piastre under Paris-aligned control. This note was issued in the final year before Cambodia's full independence rendered the arrangement obsolete. The Cambodge-specific series was printed by Bradbury Wilkinson in Surrey, a firm better known for its work on British Commonwealth issues and postage stamps.

The Institut itself was dissolved in 1954 following the Geneva Accords, making the entire emission short-lived by design.
