| Obverse description | Black intaglio print on white paper with intricate guilloche border work running the full perimeter. At left, a vignette of a tall monument or column set on an elaborate pedestal; at right, an oval portrait of a distinguished gentleman in a suit. The centre bears a large numeral '5' within a decorative shield underprint, flanked by bilingual text reading 'PALERA AU PORTEUR A DEMANDE' and 'WILL PAY TO BEARER ON DEMAND'.
