Obverse description Central field features the elaborate tughra (imperial monogram) of Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II, rendered in stylized calligraphic form. The tughra is enclosed within a decorative wreath or floral garland border, bound at the base by a ribbon, all contained within a beaded or dotted inner circle. The overall design closely imitates the official Ottoman 5-piastre coinage of the period.

Reverse description Two lines of Arabic inscription occupy the central field, giving the mint name and regnal year of Sultan Mahmud II. Below the inscription, the Ottoman calendar date 1223 AH (corresponding to 1834 CE in the Gregorian calendar) is prominently displayed. The central device is surrounded by a decorative floral wreath border tied with a ribbon at the base, enclosed within a beaded or dotted inner circle, faithfully imitating the style of the genuine Ottoman issue.
