Biafra declared independence from Nigeria in May 1967, triggering a civil war that killed between one and three million people — mostly through famine — before the republic collapsed in January 1970. It has not existed as a political entity since. This piece is a modern fantasy issue with no connection to any historical Biafran monetary authority, produced nearly five decades after the state ceased to exist.
