Reverse description Printed in blue-green intaglio on cream paper, the reverse is dominated by a large central guilloche medallion enclosing a portrait vignette of a young woman in classical dress with a bonnet. The arc inscription THE STANDARD BANK OF SOUTH AFRICA LIMITED curves around the medallion. Flanking the central oval are two rectangular architectural vignettes: the Cape Town Branch building to the left and the Johannesburg Branch building to the right, each labelled accordingly, set within elaborate lathe-work borders with the numeral 5 and FIVE in the corners.
