Reverse description Printed entirely in blue on white paper. At left, a circular vignette encloses a sailing ship scene — a large square-rigged vessel under full sail accompanied by smaller ships, surrounded by an ornamental border bearing the Latin motto below the image. The centre of the note is occupied by a large octagonal guilloche panel left blank for handstamping, flanked at right by an elaborate rosette medallion enclosing the sterling denomination numeral £5.
