| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of Reza Shah Pahlavi in three-quarter face turned to the left, bareheaded and in military uniform, occupying the right portion of the note. At centre, an ornate guilloche medallion carries the denomination پنج ریال (Five Rials) in Persian script, with the date in the Solar Hijri calendar below. The bank title بانک ملی ایران appears at upper right, with the numeral 5 repeated in the four corners within foliate scroll borders, and a text panel with legal tender provisions at lower centre. |
