1979 was the year the Pahlavi monarchy collapsed and the Islamic Republic was proclaimed, leaving the Central Bank in the middle of an unresolved coinage transition. Trial strikes from this period document denominations that were tested, adjusted, or quietly abandoned as the new government worked out what revolutionary Iran's circulating coinage would actually look like. KM#Pn114 never reached circulation.
