| Reverse description | The right half of the note carries an intaglio vignette of a Wild Yak standing on alpine pasture with the snow-capped Limi Himal of Humla as backdrop, printed in deep brown and green tones. At left, an ornate arched watermark window framed by decorative temple-pillar motifs occupies the full height of the note. | Comments |
Nepal Rastra Bank has sourced banknote printing from multiple foreign suppliers over the decades — including De La Rue and the Security Printing Centre in Kathmandu — but this series was produced by the China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation, which has held an increasing share of South and Southeast Asian printing contracts since the 1990s. The choice drew little public comment domestically, though Nepal's close economic ties with both India and China have made currency procurement a quietly political matter at times.
The single security feature — a watermark — is notably sparse for a note issued in this period, even at this denomination.
