Djambi (now Jambi) was one of several regional treasuries that issued its own emergency currency during the Indonesian National Revolution — the period between the 1945 declaration of independence and the eventual consolidation of Dutch-Indonesian relations in 1949. The central Republican government in Yogyakarta could not reliably supply currency to outlying Sumatran territories, so regional Kas Negara offices printed their own. Djambi's issues are among the more obscure of these provincial emissions, printed locally with limited equipment under wartime conditions.
Survivors are genuinely rare.
