The P#46A belongs to a series that went through repeated design revisions in the 2000s as Bangladesh Bank worked to tighten security specifications on its lower denominations — a response to persistent counterfeiting pressure on notes that circulated heavily in rural markets. The 5 Taka occupies a denomination kept deliberately in paper form long after higher values migrated to polymer, partly due to cost sensitivity in high-volume rural distribution.
A watermark-only security package on a note of this circulation intensity is notably thin by the standards of its era, and worn examples are far more common than intact ones.
