| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Samoa occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a stylised palm tree over wavy lines in the upper half and five stars of the Southern Cross in the lower half, encircled by an olive wreath. Above the shield a Latin cross radiates rays of light. A scroll beneath the arms bears the national motto FA'AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA. The legend SAMOA arcs along the upper periphery, and the denomination $5 appears in the lower field. |
