| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Vanuatu occupies the central field, depicting a Melanesian warrior in traditional dress standing upon a ceremonial boar's tusk, holding a spear adorned with a palm frond in his right hand and a coconut palm branch in his left. The arms are flanked by two crossed namele fern fronds, and a ribbon scroll at the base bears the national motto LONG GOD YUMI STANAP in incuse lettering. The legend RIPABLIK BLONG is divided to the left and right of the arms, with VANUATU inscribed along the lower rim. The date of issue appears above the central device at the upper rim. |

| Additional information |
Vanuatu's copper-plated steel coinage replaced earlier cupro-nickel issues as a cost-cutting measure — a shift common across Pacific island nations during the 2000s and 2010s as rising base metal prices made traditional compositions economically untenable for low-denomination circulation coinage. The Reserve Bank of Vanuatu, established only in 1980 following independence from the Anglo-French Condominium, has always sourced its coinage from foreign mints, with the Royal Australian Mint and others handling production at various points in the series.
