| Reverse description | The central vignette presents an intaglio view of the Inga hydroelectric dam complex on the Congo River, rendered in fine engraved lines in dark blue against a multicoloured guilloche background of rosette and lozenge patterns in red, green, and blue. The bank title "BANQUE DU ZAÏRE" is lettered at the top, while the cursive inscription "Cinq Zaïres" and numeral "5" appear in the lower register against a colourful diamond-pattern underprint.
