| Obverse description | The document takes the form of a Cheque de Gerencia (Management Check) issued by the Banco Central de Bolivia, with the issuer name and document type printed at upper left. A vignette of Mercury within a circle appears as an underprint. Data fields are rendered in two layers: pre-printed text establishes the fixed legends, while overprinted entries supply the specific place and date (Santa Cruz, June 4, 1984) to the left, the face value in numerals to the right, and the amount in words — CINCUENTA MIL 00/100 — across the central register. |

Bolivia's inflation in the early 1980s was among the worst the Western Hemisphere had seen since the Weimar period. By 1984 the annual rate was accelerating toward what would eventually exceed 20,000% in 1985, and the Banco Central was issuing denominations that would have been unthinkable a decade earlier. This 50,000 Pesos Bolivianos note was essentially obsolete by the time it circulated — within two years the entire Pesos Bolivianos currency was abandoned and replaced by the Boliviano at a conversion rate of one million to one.
ABNC's New York contract plates were used for much of the Bolivian series during this period, though production volume was dictated by crisis rather than design cycles.
