Obverse description The central field features the coat of arms of Rwanda, depicting a traditional thatched hut flanked by a sorghum plant and a coffee branch, surmounted by a sun and set within an interlaced knot motif at the base. A ribbon beneath the shield bears the national motto in Kinyarwanda: UBUMWE-UMURIMO-GUKUNDA IGIHUGU. The upper legend reads BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA arching along the rim, while the lower field bears the denomination AMAFARANGA 50 MIRONGO ITANU in bold raised numerals and lettering.

Rwanda's National Bank issued this coin as part of a broader African wildlife bullion program that positioned several small-revenue central banks — Rwanda among them — as licensing partners for European private mints producing collector-market silver. The coins are legal tender in name; none were ever intended to circulate, and Rwanda itself has no cheetah population to speak of.
